Top Bullet Journal Spreads For Moving House

by Design Team 13 Jun 2021 1 comment

Hello, friends! Elizabeth here from Plant Based Bride on YouTube and @elizabethturn on Instagram. Today I’m sharing some bujo spread ideas for when you’re moving!

cover page

I’m about to move across Canada with my husband and two cats, so I decided to make a moving bullet journal to stay on top of everything we have to do. I love this coffee notebook from The Archer & Olive x The Grayter Good collab so it was the obvious pick!

If you'd prefer to watch a timelapse of the process rather than following along with this blog post, check out this video:

Let’s go through each spread idea and I’ll share my thought process in included it!

Everything You Need To Create Your Moving Bullet Journal Spreads

SPREAD ONE: COVER PAGE

I always like to start a bullet journal with a cover page, even if it’s a simple one! For my moving BuJo I took inspiration from a house blueprint and incorporated those details to add some interest to the spread. Scroll down to the bottom of this post to get a printable of this two-page spread to use in your own bullet journal!

SPREAD TWO: MOVING TIMELINE

This spread is based on a wedding planning timeline spread I made back in the day after I got engaged that was indispensable to me! For this moving version I broke down the time we have left pre-move and assigned tasks accordingly. I front-loaded tasks in the hopes that we can get most of the heavy lifting done early to allow for last-minute projects or delays!

Your moving timeline will vary based on a whole host of factors, but here’s mine to use as a jumping-off point:

SPREAD THREE: MOVING CHECKLISTS

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE a good checklist! With everything that needs to get done in the next few months, I knew I needed to keep tasks organized. Creating a checklist for each category of tasks seemed like the best solution!

I decided to start with a little cover page, just for fun:

As for the checklists themselves, I kept them super simple. I cut tabs to make flipping the pages easier and added a straightforward header at the top of each list!

SPREAD FOUR: ROOM KEY

This room key is for reference while packing our boxes. We gave each room in our house a letter and are numbering each box we pack from each room. Some people prefer to use a colour code to organize their boxes, and a spread like this could work in that case as well!

SPREAD FIVE: BOX INVENTORY

The box inventory spread is the crowning jewel of this setup (in my humble opinion!) With two boxes per page, these inventory spreads allow us to write down everything that’s packed in each box (making it easier to find what we’re looking for on the other end) along with the estimated value of the box and any other important factors (like whether it’s fragile or heavy).

I’ve loved using these spreads so far and love how quick they are to fill in!

And that’s it!

I'd love to see your version of these spreads if you’re preparing to move. Tag me on Instagram @elizabethturn so I can see them! You can also download the printable version of the cover page here:

Finally made the decision to move after 22 years and I am stressing over organizing this move more than anything else. I came across your spread and it is perfect, thank you!!
