How To Use A Traveler's Notebook As A Reading Journal + Bullet Journal Spread Ideas

by Content Team 24 Jul 2022 0 Comments

Hello Friends! I’m Dano from @danosbujo on Instagram and Youtube! Today I’ll be sharing with you how I use my Travelers Sized Notebook as my Reading Journal! Keep scrolling to check out what spreads I did and suggest for you to try out!

These spreads and suggestions are simple and easy to make, you don’t need to make them as overworked as I did, you do not need to be artistic or have a certain Spread to use these Spreads, so feel free to get inspired and try them in case you find it useful for you!

Here’s what I used for this Journal Set-Up:

1: Cover Page

Starting with the cover page, I went for a full Vintage theme for this Notebook! So I added some vintage pictures, some washi tape, and stamps, and also used a Wine red-toned acrylograph to write 2022! It’s not mandatory to have this spread, but I like to make a beautiful page to honor the beginning of a new journal!

2: Index

I don’t usually make Indexes on my journals, but I find a must for a reading journal! This way you can track the spreads you’re using, the books you wrote about, and other spreads!

3: Books Read in 2022

Books Read in 2022 spread

I’m a visual person, and I find it so fun to print the covers of the books I’ve read and glue them into this spread! It’s so fun to have everything in a single place! Don’t you think?

4: Book Recommendations

You know you need a book recommendation spread if you’re a book lover, there are a lot of books you can miss, so in case anyone recommends a book here’s the place where you can write it! I’ve been adding a lot of suggestions so far, and I think it’s lovely to add the person who recommended you a certain book’s name to know who you need to discuss the book with after reading it!

5: Book Challenge

Book Challenge

Do you think you’re up to a challenge? Maybe you can set a certain number as a book goal, mine was to read at least 60 books this year, can’t promise I will succeed, but at least I know what I want to achieve this year! Having a Challenge is always so fun, maybe that’s what you need to motivate you to read more than usual, that helped me tbh!

6: 2022 Book Overview

In this spread, I normally track the number of books read each month, either if they’re physical. e-book or audiobooks, and also the overall rate/score I gave to them. It’s fun to have an overview of what you’re reading each month and can help you achieve your goal for the challenge mentioned before XD.

7: To Be read

To be read spreads

OK, I think that the To Be Read spread is very known, this place is meant for you to write what are the next books that you want to read, or that you plan to read in the future, I separated from fiction and not fiction, but you can change it to whatever you like or are used to read!

8: Reading At A Glance

Reading at a glance spread

This is honestly my favorite spread! Here I like to track how long I take to read each book, and I can color code each book as well! It’s fun to use this tracker if you’re an active reader or you want to know how long it takes you to finish each book!

9: Book Review

For my book reviews, I like to decorate a little the pages and then have fun writing a fun font for the book title and have 5 stars to rate the book! I love to write my thoughts about the book on paper and that’s how I usually journal in my reading journal, either if I like the book or not, I try to not feel pressured to write about the book, like …. a lot, just something like what I thought about the story, character, the writing and how I felt about it. As simple as that! Don’t try to be a critic of the book, just write what’s in your head after reading it!

Check out the guided flip-through I did talking about these spreads, and showing you all the spreads done in this Journal, in this video:

Here’s a Printable that I made with spread ideas for your Reading Journal!

I hope you enjoy it ♥
