Hey again! It’s Hayley here (@hayleyremdeart on Instagram), and today I’m going talk about some useful information to include in your wish list spreads! Wish lists are not just good ways to keep track of things you need yourself, but as the holidays are coming up, it always good to have some present ideas in mind when you get the dreaded “What do you want this year” question. So, if this sounds like something you need, keep reading!
Recommended Supplies:
- Journal – As always, it will be no surprise to you that my pick is the Archer and Olive Journal. The lovely and thick pages have no bleeding or ghosting, so you get a clean start for every project spread! Also, it means you can decorate the spread without worrying about it.
- Pencil – To carefully plan out your ideas so you can make sure your spread has everything you need.
- Fineliners –My favourites are the Unipin fineliners as they’re waterproof, affordable and have a strong nib.
- Decorative Touch (optional) – This could be anything from washi to acrylographs, or of course, nothing! I usually like to add a personal touch to my spreads so they’re more fun to use and look at.

Benefits Of A Wish List
Financing
Wish lists are great for financing. Having a spread for this helps you pause, think, decide, and shop around. I talk about this more in my financing blog here, which I really recommend if you’re looking for ways to save money!
Gifting
Another benefit is knowing exactly what gifts you’ve been wanting. Anyone else hate when they get asked what you want for your birthday or other holidays? I feel like everything I want flies straight out of my head. Having a wish list means you can keep everything you’ve been eyeing up in one place, and have some information in hand about the product such as the price/store to give to the friend/family member.
Avoid Buyer’s Guilt
And finally, having a wish lists helps you figure out if you actually want that item. I personally like to think over purchases, and check that I definitely want them before I buy. The rare occasions I buy something without much thought, I get terrible buyer’s guilt. Therefore, jotting down the item and then looking back later to see if you still want/need it is a great way to avoid that!

Columns To Include
Here are the main details I recommend including in your Wishlist spread!

The Item
The most important thing to include is the item you’re wanting! I like to put as much detail here as possible such as size/colour/style to make it easier if I decide to purchase at a later date!
The Price
I think it also a great idea to include the price. First of all, if someone wants to buy you a gift, you can find something in the price range they would usually gift you. But just for yourself, it will help you shop around and keep your eye out for any deals!
The Shop
If you’ve done the shopping around and found the cheapest price, you may want to add in which store to get it from in your journal and save yourself the work for next time. Also, if you see something whilst out shopping you can remember where you saw it.
Want/Need
For me, having a place to note if the item is a want or need is a great way to decide what to prioritise buying first. You can also keep an eye on needed items you need to save for!
Waiting On
Finally, you better add a spread for orders you’re waiting on arriving, because you know you’ll end up buying something off your wish list before long…
