Rainbow Triangle Pattern Tutorial For Your Bullet Journal

by Adrienne Castleton 15 Apr 2019 0 Comments

Hello friends! Adrienne from @studio80design here today to show you how to create a colorful rainbow pattern in your dot grid notebook! I love using my Archer and Olive Dot Grid Notebook for patterns like this because the dots provide easy guides and the pages are super thick so you won't experience any ghosting onto the next pages!

Materials you'll need:

Step 1

The first thing I like to do is create guidelines using my pencil. Having everything mapped out before I use marker helps make sure everything will fit! I'm using twelve colors, so I gave each color 3 rows. I decided to leave a border one square around the page, and that way the colors will fit evenly in the center of the page!

Step 2

Next, I like to lay out all the colors I'll be using in the correct order off the to right so they're easily accessible. Take your red TwinTone Marker and ruler and create the top and sides of a rectangle at the top of your guidelines using the broader tip. Make your way down the colors, also drawing the top and sides of each rectangle. When you get to the last color, pink, you'll finish it by drawing the bottom to the rectangle.

Step 3

We're going to go back up to the top of the colors, starting with red, and drawing triangles in the red rectangle section again with the broad tip. Each rectangle will be 6 squares across and 3 squares tall. On the next row for orange, reverse the triangle pattern so the bases of each triangle touch the bases of the red section. Continue drawing the triangles for each color down the page, alternating the pattern like we did for red/orange.

Step 4

After you've finished drawing all your triangles, now draw in detail lines inside each triangle using the finer tip of each marker. Alternate the diagonal lines inside each triangle. The bullet points on the page really come in handy when drawing these lines, so let them act as guidelines!

Step 5

After you've finished adding the smaller diagonal lines, erase any extra pencil guidelines that you may still have around your page.
