How To: Magical October Cover Page

by Nabaa Afridi 07 Oct 2019 2 Comments

Hello, hello, hello! October is finally here and with it comes my favourite time of the year! Chilly weather, comfort food, baked goods, and best of all - spooky season! What's not to love about October?!

This October, I decided to change things up a little. While I absolutely adore the different fall themes going around, I went the way of a little magic! And what is more magical than the night sky!? Check out the original post here.

Want to create your own? Continue reading to the step by step process!

Materials needed:

One of the biggest reasons I absolutely love the Archer and Olive journal is that I can use pretty much any medium I want! I love using a lot of paint in my journal and it is amazing how well this the paper in these journals hold up to paint!

Step 1: Base

To create this spread, I first started off with a base layer of black acrylic paint. You could use anything here really - gouache, markers, craft paper even!

Step 2: Add Gold Details

Allow to dry completely and then start adding in my favourite part - the tiny stars and moons! There isn't a set rule here on how you add these in. Feel free to add in as many or as few elements as you want. I added in stars, constellations, little crescents, and even a few crystals!

Step 3: Have Fun!

Continue doing this until you're happy with how your spread looks. I like to splatter on some gold paint as well. The key is to just have a ton of fun! These types of cover pages are my favourite - simple, easy, no fuss!

Step 4: Kraft Paper (if you know, you know!)

Once this is done, I added in a little strip of kraft paper with the month on it and that's it! A super quick but really fun cover page!
