Holiday Watercolor Wreath Tutorial

by Adrienne Castleton 20 Nov 2019 0 Comments

Hello friends, Adrienne from @studio80design here today to share a holiday watercolor wreath tutorial using Tombow Dual Brush Pens! The holidays are coming up so I wanted to share a tutorial that ANYONE can do to get in the spirit of the season! Let's get started!

Materials you'll need:

Step 1

Use your Helix Circle Maker (or any other round object you can trace) and draw a circle in the middle of your page of the Watercolor Notebook with the MONO Graph Grip Mechanical Pencil. Then I like to use the MONO Eraser to lightly erase the circle, but make sure you can still see the general outline. This will help prevent pencil marks under your watercolor!

Step 2

Swatch out your Dual Brush Pen colors onto a Blending Palette. We're going to work from our lightest to our darkest colors. Take the Medium Waterbrush and pick up your lightest green shade from your palette and paint a set of four or five leaves on your circle. We're going to spread them out, so make four sets of these leaves around your circle.

Step 3

Now use the Small Waterbrush to fill in the rest of the areas using the next two darker shades of the markers. Try to make each set of leaves a little different from each other to add variety!

Step 4

Next, pick up the darkest shade of green from your palette and paint in smaller leaves around your page to fill in any blank areas. It's okay if you paint on top of the other leaves, in fact it's good if you do! This will add depth to your wreath!

Step 5

It's time to add the berries! Use the darkest shade of green to paint small stems for the berries around your wreath. Then pick up the red from your palette and paint in small berries. I love how adding these tiny red berries instantly gives it a holiday feel!

Step 6

Personalize it! I chose to use my wreath for my December cover page in my notebook. I used my Fudenosuke Hard Tip Brush Pen to letter "December" in the middle of my wreath! And that's it!
