by Nicola Knobel 15 Jun 2020 0 Comments

Are you looking at exploring a little more about your personality? Some of the things that make you tick? Over the last month I have been adding to my "Personal" bullet journal which happens to be one of the amazing Zodiac/ Star Sign notebooks - Gets me so excited!

Hi! Nicola here and today we are talking all things personality and personality tests! I have done a couple of these and it always seems to come back to the same thing! It shows some of my positive characteristics and characteristics I should really work on. I like that it shows me where I should look if I am looking for a new places to dig deeper into who I am, thats where I will look first.

For pure curiosity - I would love to know your personality types!

The DiSC Personality Test

The DiSC assessment, published by Wiley, is a non-judgmental tool used for discussion of people's behavioral differences. If you participate in a DiSC program, you'll be asked to complete a series of questions that produce a detailed report about your personality and behavior.

There are 4 key aspects to the test and how you fit into those, this is a good test if you are working with others as it shows simple ways to collaborate with others, and how to best manage their strengths and weaknesses.

The 4 personalities include Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Conscientiousness - where you fall on this scale shows how you work and what you can work on.

The Myers-Briggs Personality Types

Directly from the Myers Briggs site:

The purpose of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) personality inventory is to make the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung understandable and useful in people's lives. The essence of the theory is that much seemingly random variation in the behavior is actually quite orderly and consistent, being due to basic differences in the ways individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment.

There are 16 personalities all of which are considered equal - that there is no "better" personality and that each has strengths and weaknesses.

The Enneagram Personality Test

Directly from the Enneagram website:

The Enneagram is a system of personality typing that describes patterns in how people interpret the world and manage their emotions. The Enneagram describes nine different personality types and maps each of these types on a nine-pointed diagram which helps to illustrate how the types relate to one another. The name Enneagram comes from the Greek: Ennea is the Greek word for nine and Gramma means something that’s drawn or written.

According to the Enneagram, each of the nine personality types is defined by a particular core belief about how the world works. This core belief shapes a person's worldview and the perspective through which they see the world and the people around them. Our core beliefs are not necessarily incorrect, but they are limiting. Understanding our Enneagram type and how it colors our perceptions can help us to broaden our perspective and approach situations more effectively.

Understanding a person's Enneagram type helps us to see why they behave the way they do. Each Enneagram type has a set of core beliefs that will motivate them to take particular actions and guide them to make certain decisions. Behavior that may seem confusing or contradictory can often be explained when we understand a person's Enneagram type.

The Enneagram also helps us understand how people react to stress. By describing how the each Enneatype adapts and responds to both stressful and supportive situations, the Enneagram shows opportunities for personal development and provides a foundation for the understanding of others.

I think what I like about this test is that it focuses on what causes anxiety and stress, for me its lack of structure and organisation. Which makes me an excellent planner! HAHA!
