Cute pop up style Thanksgiving welcome page in your black out journal
Coming up with cute and fun ways create welcome pages can be tricky! You obviously don't NEED one, but its fun to welcome in the new month with a bit of a bang!
Hi Nicola here from My Inner Creative, and today we are going to work step by step to creating a cute pop up welcome page in your bullet journal.
Tools and Equipment Used
- Archer & Olive Blackout notebook
- Pencil
- Exacter Knife
- Glue
- The cute cute out printable available here
Step one - Setting up your notebook for a pop up!
The first step we want to take is to find the next step of pages that have a crease. We need this because we are going to use this crease very similar to that of a pop up card.
Once you have found the crease, carefully outline the areas you want to pop up. Because it us November, and thanks giving is in November, our theme is little more "fall/thanksgiving-y". Mark the lines you are going to cut out.
TOP TIP: If you want to test the "pop" before you start hacking away at your journal, try it on a simple piece of card or paper first.
Now that you have your crease and you have penciled in the shapes you want to pop, put your notebook aside and lets cut out our Thanksgiving shapes
Step 2: Cutting and creating your Thanksgiving shapes
This is a really simple step, print out the shapes and either use some colored card stock or paper to create the shapes and colors you want.
Take some time adding some details on the little cut outs as this is going to give your "pop-up" some texture.
Include the month as a cut out, keeping all the letters and words together.
Step 3: Cut out the "pop" shapes
Using your exacter knife and a cutting board, carefully cut out the lines that are going to be used to "pop" the images.
Once you have cut the shapes, bend the paper outwards, score where you might need this to bend when you close it.
Step 4: Stick in your decorations
Slowly stick in your decorations, checking after each "stick" that they fold flat, and the notebook still closes!
Finish sticking in all the little motifs and double check it pops and closes.
TOP TIP: If you want to add in some additional cuteness, you can get some cute stickers and pop them on some paper and cut them out to make cute pop up motifs!
Wait for everything to dry and......
ENJOY!
