Creating Customized Sticker Storage - Ideas, Inspiration and More!

by Ambassador Team 25 Aug 2024 0 Comments

Hi, Emm from @planwithemm here! You can find me on Instagram and YouTube. But here’s what you really need to know - I love stickers!! Die cuts, sticker sheets, really anything that adheres to the page. But over time, my collection has grown to the point where I can no longer find (and ergo use) the stickers I want. So today we’re going through our sticker stash, decluttering what we’ll no longer use, and organizing the rest.

Let’s dive in!

TAKE AN INVENTORY

This is arguably the hardest step of organizing, but must be done. Take ALL of your stickers out and go through them. Is it a sticker that you’ll use in the next year? Do you like the design of it?

Here’s also where we’ll sort our stickers into categories. These could be by the sticker shop who made them, the type of sticker, or even the content. Try not to get too granular here and start first by categorizing broadly.. I generally organize by what it’s a sticker of (i.e. fruit, flower, etc), but what matters is that the category is intuitive for you. This will help you find your stickers when it’s time to use them! For those sheets that no longer intrigue us, find a local donation center near you that’s looking for office supplies.

If you find that you have too many categories or a lot of categories with just a few sheets in them, consider mixing up your categorization. Alternatively, you can just use those sheets up first so that you don’t have to worry about it. I’ve created a printable with some sample categories and labels that you can use!

STICKER STORAGE CUSTOMIZATION

Now comes the fun part: customizing our sticker storage. I’m using the Archer & Olive sticker storage which comes with these great clear pouches. This lets us see the contents of the pouch without opening it, but we’ll make it even easier by making functional decor for each pouch.

The simplest way to do this is by using the stickers themselves to decorate! You can see this in how I decorated my alphabet stickers pouch. I grabbed a bunch of different letter stickers, in font, size, color, etc, and spelled out LETTERS on the clear pouch. This one is so easy but really impactful in design.

In a similar vein, I wanted my icons pouch to show me all of the icon stickers contained within, but also have a clear label. To do this, I took a sheet of paper from a notepad, lettered “icons” with a calliograph, cut around it with scissors, and taped it on the pouch. Then I took one icon from each sheet I had and surrounded the title. As I add more icon stickers to my collection, I can then just add more around the title. Additionally if I use up an entire sheet, I can remove that icon from the front of the pouch!

We can also take this idea and make it a bit more decorative. Here I made a little design on the front of my pouch using a few sky and letter stickers. This is also a good way to use up stickers that fit a category but you can’t envision yourself using in your journal. I love how my little sky scene looks and hope that it gets me excited to use more of these stickers!

What’s great about these pouches is that you can actually use acrylographs on them! And even better - you can erase any mistakes you make. Before the pen dries, a paper towel is all you need to wipe off the paint. But after it dries, you can easily scrape off the paint with your fingernail. This makes for a great semipermanent way to sort your stickers. I used the acrylographs both for lettering and tracing designs. Because the pouches are clear, you can trace any design that you put under it. I used this feature to trace a gorgeous lineart succulent sticker for my “Lineart Florals” pouch, but you could also use it to trace lettering!

You can also combine these decor ideas as you see fit! Here I combined floral stickers and acrylograph lettering to make a cute pouch for my flower stickers. But as always, these are just ideas and meant to supplement the organization. For me, just having the pouch with stickers wasn’t enough to help me find and use my stickers. Another decoration idea would be to create labels in Canva, print them out, and adhere them to the pouch.

And voila! We’ve upgraded our sticker storage in a way that’s completely customizable to your needs. You can also check out the associated YouTube video for these spreads and check out this
