5 Easy Ways To Track Gratitude And Accomplishments - So You Stick To It!

by Hayley Remde 08 Jul 2019 0 Comments

What Is The Difference Between Gratitude And Accomplishments

If you’re not already tracking Gratitude and Accomplishments, I really really think you should be! And I’m about to tell you why. But first, what is gratitude and what accomplishments should we track?

Gratitude - this is a moment each day that brought you joy. For example, was it a sunny day? Did you spend time with a friend? It doesn’t matter how big or small the moment is - I actually love to save this spread for those ‘small’ moments you don’t always acknowledge.

Accomplishment - this is something each day you have achieved. Again, this could be something small like completing all the washing, or something big like buying a house!

The Benefits

There are so many benefits to logging gratitude and accomplishments. I would say the two main benefits are positivity and remembering memories. It helps you to keep positive as daily logging gets you to sit down and think about the good things that happened that day. Even on bad days, finding one good moment can help you stop focusing on the negative. Furthermore, logging these small moments help you remember the little events and good memories that you may have forgotten!

How To Track It?

As you can see, these two things can be really great things to track, and many people have dedicated journals to gratitude and accomplishments. If you like to have different journals for separate topics, and you already have a system in place for keeping up with them, this may be for you. However, when I started, I tried using a separate journal, but I just didn’t find myself using it. I would go days without updating it, and then sit down for over an hour and try to remember what I did each day to fill it in. It ended up becoming a chore - exactly the opposite of what gratitude journaling is meant to be! So then I stopped forcing myself to use the gratitude journal, but I became sad that I didn’t have it to look back on.

After missing a whole month of gratitude and accomplishments, it hit me: why am I not making a spread for this in my bullet journal!? I already got into the habit of using it daily, so it wasn’t much more work to add in gratitude and accomplishments. So if you’re wanting to track them and you haven’t been keeping up with it, or you want to give it a go without buying a new journal, keep reading for some easy spread ideas to include it in your bujo.

Recommended Supplies:

  • Archer and Olive Journal – The lovely and thick pages have no bleeding or ghosting, so you get a clean start for every spread! Also, it means you can decorate the spread without worrying about it.
  • Fineliners –My favourites are the Unipin fineliners as they’re waterproof, affordable and have a strong nib.
  • Pencil – To plan out your spread carefully and make sure it has everything you need.
  • Decorative Touch (optional) – This could be anything from washi to watercolour, or of course, nothing! I usually like to add a personal touch to my spreads so they’re more fun to use and look at.

Inspiration

Standard Setup

The easiest way to include gratitude and accomplishments is to create a simple, vertical list of each day of the month.

If you put the list down the middle of a page, you can have room on one spread for both gratitude and accomplishments!

Or even add it to a current spread like Nicole:

One/Two Lines A Day

This layout is super similar to the standard one, but it allows for more room to write a sentence or two about what you were grateful for or achieved that day.

Daily Reflection

Another really easy way to include it in your bullet journal is to make space for it in spreads you already use.

Here I used a layout that allowed me to include a few sentences each day, similar to a diary entry:

Or another idea is to add small boxes to your weeklies to letter in:

One Word A Day Style

All of these examples weren’t technically made for gratitude or accomplishments, but they would work really well!

With this layout you could write down one word to remember a happy moment or accomplishment:

And with this layout you could also fit in more words or even include a doodle!

My favourite of this style is this one by Michenou:

Doodles

If you are more artsy and/or you prefer visualising memories/accomplishments, you can doodle them too!

Fun Layouts

If you feel like something more fun, here are some great layouts that are a bit different:

I love these boxes by Emma. You could really make this your own!

This spread is really fun, I love the unique set up, and it looks like the sun!

Prompts

Finally, if you’re struggling to find things to write about, there are plenty of prompt lists to choose from – simply google ‘Gratitude Prompts”! This can help you get into the rhythm and give you ideas of things to document.

Hopefully I’ve given you some help and inspiration to start logging gratitude and accomplishments in your bullet journal. And if I have, I would love to see your spreads, so tag me on Instagram (@hayleyremdeart) and use #hayleyremdeinspired to get the chance to get your creations featured in my stories!
