Hi friends, I’m Robin also known as Crafty Planner Queen you can find me on Instagram @crafty planner_queen. I’m a proud member of Archer & Olive’s design team and use their notebooks & journals to rule my world. Today we’re talking summer fun, Covid safe of course!
As a planner enthusiast and a mental health therapist I understand 2 things; planning is essential and FUN is also necessary! It’s super important to start effectively planning a fun, SAFE summer to detach from everyday stress. I believe most of the world is still trying to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic and wanting to get back even a small sense of normalcy. I hope that this blog gives you some helpful tips.

SUPPLIES:
> For this planning I decided to use my new Square Journal by Archer & Olive. I really love this shape, it’s not like any journal I had before. And the 8 x 8 dimension gives me lots of room to doodle & write. It also looks great photographed and has slot of character!
> I also used assorted acrylograph pens by Archer & Olive. If you decide to purchase your own be sure to use my affiliate code: CPQ10 it gives you a discount and provides me with a small commission, thanks in advance.
SAFE SUMMER FUN IDEAS
- Plan a Picnic
- Arts & Crafts Party
- Start Gardening
- Road Trip
- Outdoor Adventures
TIP: One thing about me is that I’m super indecisive when it’s time to put pen to paper. Therefore, I often create a digital outline on my iPad kinda like a “rough draft” before jumping into my bujo spread.
Once I’ve brainstormed with my draft I use my pencil to sketch out my ideas. The main attraction for this spread was the bujo sun I created in the center of the pages. Super easy to do!
#1 on the list of summer activities is pretty self explanatory. However, the best thing about a picnic is that your outdoors with a partner or close loved ones, it’s easy to social distance from others & enjoy delicious food. You can plan your picnic at a beautiful local park or even in your backyard.
#2 is one of my personal favs, making time to get crafty. Maybe there’s a DIY home project or something you’ve seen online you’ve been dying to try, well how’s the time. To make it super interactive you can have close friends over & even make light refreshments or a glass of wine.
TIP: Studies have shown that when we create with our hands it’s a great way to reduce anxiety & boost self esteem. With the summer weather, outdoor crafts can be great fun, and Vitamin D from the Sun helps decrease depression.
#3 will allow you to enjoy more of the gorgeous summer weather without the worries of crowds or masks. Learning to grow plants or food really takes on a life of its own and is ideal for those who really want to continue being at home.
#4 is all about getting out on the open road and exploring. If your family has a vacation home or even a trusted AirBnB pack it up and start road tripping. The best part is you don’t have to worry about airplanes or being around strangers & you can still get all the joys of getting away.
TIP: Creating a bujo spread for these activities is great because it allows us to practice our doodles & hand lettering. Once you have successfully completed the summer fun activity you can go back and color in your doodles!
#5 really brings things full circle because most of our COVID safe summer activities can be done outdoors. What sets the adventure apart is the Movement! Physical activity is important for most people across the globe, as it helps improve mood and overall longevity. There always something exciting in nature, so this will be an ideal summer for biking, hiking, swimming, camping etc.
